The game is played on the rectangular grass or artificial turf field with a goal in the centre of each of the short ends. The object of the game is to score by driving the ball into the opposition goal. Only goalkeepers are allowed to play with hands; all other players use their feet, but they are allowed to use head, torso or other parts of their bodies. The team that scores most goals by the end of the match wins. If the score is tied at the end of the game, either a draw is declared or the game goes to into extra time and/or penalty shootout,depending on the format of the competition.

The modern game is codified in England following the formation of the Football Association, whose 1863 Laws of the Game created the foundations for the way the sport is playes today. Football is governed internationally by the FIFA (Federation Internationale  de Football Association)

The most prestigious internatioal football competition is the FIFA World Cup, held every four years. Next World Cup is to be played in South Africa 2010.  Thirty two best teams from all over the world will participate.

 No doubt about it.  Anywher but USA.

But that will change..I hope.. Today “my” club Dinamo Zagreb, Croatia plays in Netherlands agains Ajax. Mighty Ajax, but we do not surrend.. Ajax is favourite  for sure, but they have fallen twice in ten years. We have a chance..

And that is beaty of the game, many times outsider beats favourite, and like smart man says, it is not over till the judge says its over…
